Kiva Dunes Public Golf Course
Kiva Dunes blends coastal scenery and strategic design in an 18-hole public layout along Alabama’s Gulf Shores. The course offers open fairways, dune-lined holes, and a wind-influenced challenge that suits golfers of varying skill levels.
Course Overview
Kiva Dunes offers an engaging coastal golfing experience on Alabama’s Gulf Shores, combining natural seaside elements with thoughtfully designed play. This public 18-hole course unfolds over gently rolling terrain, with fairways and greens shaped by native dunes and salt marshes that frame many holes. While links-style in inspiration, Kiva Dunes features a layout that balances strategic challenge with accessible playability, making it a fitting choice for a broad range of golfers from weekend enthusiasts to seasoned players.
The course’s open fairways invite varied shot-making, yet water hazards and well-positioned bunkers demand accuracy and thoughtful club selection. Holes near the shore allow golfers to feel the subtle influence of coastal winds, which test one’s tempo without overwhelming the round. The signature stretch along the Gulf provides sweeping views where sand and sea brush close against the playing corridors, adding an atmospheric dimension to the challenge.
Kiva Dunes functions as both a golf destination and a setting for extended stays, with adjacent lodging and amenities that support relaxation after a day on the links. The course maintains a reputation for attentive service, with marshals and staff who enhance the experience by offering guidance and ensuring pace of play. Conditions tend to reflect typical coastal maintenance challenges, but the layout’s design and setting consistently draw repeat visits.
Players should come prepared for walking, as the course’s layout through dunes and natural grassland amplifies the outdoors experience. Comfortable shoes and sun protection are recommended. Early tee times can help avoid the heat and capitalize on calmer wind conditions.
Kiva Dunes presents a golf outing that weaves natural coastal elements into a straightforward yet rewarding test. Its standing as an accessible public golf course on the Gulf Coast ensures it remains a practical choice for visitors seeking both challenge and scenery in equal measure.

Course conditions don’t match the price tag. Recommend craft farms or plantation if you’re looking for a course in great shape. Best bang for the buck would be lost key. Your money goes further elsewhere.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience playing this golf course. It was so beautiful and such a lovely day for golf. Marshall's Judge and Andy were so nice and showed us where to go. Everyone on vacation is playing golf today, so it was a very busy day. The Marshall's help you out and make everything easier, no stress, just fun! My husband played great!

Overall nice course. We had a great time. I haven't done much golfing in Alabama so I don't know how it compares to the rest of the courses around. Most of the golfing I've done is in Sheboygan County in Wisconsin which has a lot of beautiful golf courses and I usually pay less at those courses. Fairways were pretty open overall and some of the holes had plenty of trouble that you could get in. The staff on the course was very friendly and made you feel welcome. I'd golf here again but I'd probably see if there was a cheaper option around.

Clean, quiet, and homes we stay in have been quite nice! The beach is not my preference but this place is really quite nice, especially with family or whatever company you might be spending your time here with.
