Wiki Wiki Course

Waimea, Hawaii, USABig Island

The Wiki Wiki Course in Waimea offers a focused short-game challenge across nine compact holes, helping golfers of all skill levels refine accuracy and touch. This walking-only public course stands out for its approachable layout and year-round playing conditions in Hawaii’s temperate climate.

Course Overview

Situated in the heart of Waimea, Hawaii, the Wiki Wiki Course offers a distinct golfing experience focused on short-game precision and approach shots. As a compact nine-hole layout, the course is neither sprawling nor exhausting, inviting players to refine their skills within manageable yardages ranging roughly from 44 to 133 yards. This makes Wiki Wiki an approachable choice for beginners and families, or for more seasoned golfers seeking a concentrated practice environment away from the rigors of a full-length course.

The Wiki Wiki Course is a public, walking-only venue, emphasizing accessibility and casual play. Its setup consists predominantly of smaller greens or closely mown target areas rather than the traditional large putting surfaces—only a couple of the holes feature full greens. This configuration encourages a focus on accuracy and touch around the greens, with bunkers and varied pin placements adding subtle challenges to an otherwise forgiving layout.

The surroundings are open and simple, typical of a short course designed for quick rounds. Located off Makaiwa Place, the course benefits from the temperate Hawaiian climate year-round, allowing players to practice regardless of season. The relatively short distances on the scorecard do not undercut the value of this course; instead, they highlight the Wiki Wiki’s strategic role as a training ground for chip shots, pitches, and bunker escapes.

Amenities include a pro shop offering equipment rentals and balls, though visitors should note mixed feedback regarding return and purchase policies. There is no cart service, emphasizing a leisurely pace and foot-friendly terrain; soft-soled shoes or golf spikes are sufficient for comfort and stability. Nearby, a driving range equipped for full swings complements the short-game focus found on the course itself.

For golfers planning a visit, the Wiki Wiki Course presents a budget-conscious, skill-focused option in Waimea, bridging the gap between practice facilities and full-scale competition courses. The modest challenge of the holes paired with warm weather and a friendly local ambiance makes it an inviting stop, especially for those looking to sharpen their short game or introduce new players to golf’s fundamentals in a relaxed, unpretentious setting.

Course Highlights

I visited the Wiki Wiki course with my father-in-law a year ago and we had a blast! Great course for locking in your short game and reasonably priced for Ka'maainā (roughly $40) No cart provided for this course walking the course is essentially walikng the equivalent of 2 Holes tee box to green. Not sure if this is 100% true but I heard a few extra bucks gets you access to the driving range(located across the parking lot) Looking forward to my next visit!

Big disappointment. Ok course for a young player just learning, but save your money if your an adult. That $39 quickly turns into $60 by the time they make you buy a $5 ball and rent old beatup clubs for $15. (Very few people playing this course are going to have their own clubs or balls, so how about just including it?). Only or two "real" greens. The rest are low cut circles along side oF what used to be sides of a fairway. Of the 9. Most holes are only ~60 yds (one is 44, yes 44 yds).

Great short course for beginners and families. Some of the approaches require some skill but still entry level. Be cautious of the pro shop policies!!! Terrible return and purchase policies. Told me purchases were required to play which were not, when I went to return items they told me they did not take returns! I probably would play there again but would not visit pro shop
