Club at Discovery Harbour Golf 18-Hole Course

Naalehu, Hawaii, USABig Island

The Club at Discovery Harbour Golf Course offers an 18-hole layout that balances approachability and subtle challenge amid Hawaii’s coastal environment. With open fairways, gentle elevation, and Pacific breezes testing tempo, this private course invites players seeking a relaxed but engaging round.

Course Overview

Set against the sweeping natural backdrop of Hawaii’s Big Island, the Club at Discovery Harbour Golf 18-Hole Course offers a unique playing experience distinctive from the island’s more famed resort layouts. This private, members-only course extends 18 holes across gently rolling terrain that blends open fairways with pockets of native vegetation, all framed by Pacific coastal breezes that subtly influence shot-making decisions. The layout emphasizes playability, making it approachable for golfers of varied skill levels while still delivering enough strategic variety to engage mid- and low-handicappers.

The course reveals a straightforward but engaging design, avoiding excessive length to reward precision and thoughtful course management over sheer power. Elevation changes are moderate, creating an inviting rhythm that keeps each hole fresh without taxing stamina. Greens are generally receptive, with subtle contours that invite careful reading rather than punishing complexity. A gentle trade wind often plays a decisive role, especially through the back nine, testing tempo and encouraging players to commit firmly to their swings.

Discovery Harbour’s setting is characterized by a quiet, unpretentious charm. The landscape is open and airy, with glimpses of the ocean that provide visual relief alongside mature trees and native Hawaiian flora lining select holes. This layout suits players looking for a relaxed round infused with local ambiance rather than grand championship intensity.

The clubhouse serves as a casual gathering spot with a friendly bar and dining options, offering a welcoming environment where members and guests can unwind post-round. Although the course is private, limited guest access is permitted under specific membership guidelines, making it a coveted destination for those fortunate enough to tee off here.

Whether approaching this course for a leisurely round or for steady improvement, golfers will find the Club at Discovery Harbour offers a solid blend of challenge and accessibility. The balance of coastal conditions, approachable design, and a laid-back atmosphere positions it as a notable stop within Central New Jersey’s diverse golf landscape for those who value golf framed by nature’s quieter moments.

Saturday night. Small crowd. The food is good. I don't like that you can only come 3x with a punch card. Then forced to become a member for 100.00 bucks??? Bar keep kept apologizing while explaining this.

Called to schedule a tee time. Was staying in a a house watching the course and barely anyone is playing here. Greens are terrible and they wanted $70 for fee, cart and club rental. You can play at volcano which is an amazing course for less than this pile of crap. Pro shop lady was absolutely terrible to talk to. Do yourself a favor and go play at a different course. Don’t waste time going to south point to play on a poorly maintained course for WAY to much money.

We found the Discovery Harbour club through a recommendation of some friends. It's a small bar with an extremely friendly and gracious manager. Prices are very reasonable, especially during happy hour. It is a members-only club and non-members are welcome for up to three visits. We are not members, but stopped for a beer and some snacks. A great little find!
