Course Overview

RiverPines Golf offers a compelling golf experience that blends thoughtful design with well-maintained conditions, making it an inviting destination for players across the skill spectrum. Located at 4775 Old Alabama Road in Johns Creek, Georgia, this public 18-hole course challenges golfers with a layout that rewards precision and strategic shot-making rather than sheer power. Its gently rolling terrain is punctuated by tree-lined fairways and well-placed bunkers, crafting a parkland-style setting that encourages thoughtful navigation.

The course’s playability stands out with a diverse selection of holes requiring a mix of long irons, woods, and occasional driver use, ensuring players engage every facet of their game. Approaches demand respect, as the bent-grass greens are known for their smooth roll and brisk pace, especially on well-maintained days. Golfers should prepare for subtle undulations and well-guarded putting surfaces, which test touch and tempo.

RiverPines also boasts a par-3 course ideal for short game sharpening or quick practice rounds. The practice facilities include a driving range, where a small bucket of warm-up balls is complimentary with a round — an appreciated amenity for loosening up before tee time. Golfers consistently praise the quality of the tee boxes and fairways, reflecting attentive maintenance by the course staff.

Pace of play averages four hours, making it a reliable choice for weekend outings or weekday rounds. While the course sees steady demand, advanced tee time booking is advisable, especially on weekends. Players who prefer walking will find the terrain manageable, with signage helping to navigate the course efficiently.

The clubhouse offers a casual grill area, perfect for post-round conversations and refreshments. Friendly staff add to the welcoming atmosphere, enhancing overall enjoyment.

RiverPines Golf is well suited for golfers seeking a challenge without intimidation, with a layout that prizes shot variety over brute force. Those who appreciate course conditions, strategic shot placement, and a relaxed yet competitive environment will find RiverPines a worthwhile draw in the northern Georgia golf scene.

Really enjoyable round today. Pace of play was solid (4 hrs), tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and greens in really good shape (1 green had some weird sand spots). Greens were especially fast. Impressive for a public course. Complimentary range balls was a great touch. Loved all of the signage around the course. Really helped. Highly recommend using a GPS app. Staff was very friendly as well. Hope to be back soon! I felt that it was worth the $85 price tag for a Saturday morning round. As for the course, I felt that I got a lot of variety in the holes... Not many forced driver holes. Only a few driver - wedge holes. Many holes required a long iron or wood off the tee. I love little changes that challenge different aspects of your game. Just don't miss long on your approach shots!

This place is a great place to play golf. People are extremely nice, the course as well taken care of. The only reason I didn’t get it five stars Was because the greens weren’t in great shape.

We had a great day of golf today. Shawn and his team were a pleasure to work with and our group had a blast (5 foursomes!). We’ll be back next year…going to make this an annual event!

A fun and challenging track to play. It has an 18 holes course plus a par 3 course, nice practice facilities and a grill to enjoy. The round comes with a small bucket of balls to warm up before playing. The greens rolled good and fast. players need to fix their divots but that seems to be everywhere these days. The course is busy so booking a tee time would be recommended.

Good experience overall - tee boxes are in good shape, fairways generally very good and the bent-grass greens are surviving the summer. We finished in 4 hours on the dot - not bad for an 8:50 Sunday morning round. It’s been a while since I’ve played here and I would say in general they’ve done a great job of keeping the course in good shape. It’s an interesting layout with lots of trouble if you’re not playing well.

I’ve played about 10 rounds here and the pace of play is so bad. Doesn’t matter if it’s a weekday, expect 5-5.5 hour rounds every single time. The Marshalls unfortunately don’t do anything. It’s a good course and the conditions are great when it doesn’t rain a lot, but I’m not sure it’s worth the price anymore.
