TPC Sugarloaf

Duluth, Georgia, USAAtlanta Metro

TPC Sugarloaf is an 18-hole private championship course in Duluth, Georgia, known for its distinctive nines—The Stables and The Meadows. Featuring tree-lined Bermuda fairways, challenging bunkers, and natural water hazards, the course offers a test for a range of skill levels framed by Southern charm and professional-grade amenities.

Course Overview

A private fortress of golf set within the rolling terrain of Duluth, Georgia, TPC Sugarloaf presents an 18-hole championship layout that challenges and rewards with equal measure. The course, designed as two distinct nines known as The Stables and The Meadows, stretches across the site of the former Rollins Farm, offering a mix of tree-lined Bermuda grass fairways, strategic water features, and elevation changes that demand precision and thoughtful shot-making. Steeped in the legacy of the PGA TOUR, this course has hosted The Mitsubishi Electric Classic since its inception in 2013, providing a professional-caliber test while remaining accessible to members with differing abilities.

The interplay between natural elements and manicured turf shapes the experience here. Rolling hills influence the flight of the ball, while the occasional stream and well-placed lakes require measured approaches and smart course management. Sand traps punctuate fairways and greens alike; they are both a visual highlight and a tactical deterrent that challenges players to balance risk and conservatism. The greens themselves are known for their smooth surfaces and brisk pace, inviting confident putting strokes under the attentive southern sun.

The inviting clubhouse overlooks the course, serving as a hub for socializing and dining that mirrors the warmth associated with traditional Southern country clubs. Amenities extend to a comprehensive practice facility including a driving range and oversized putting green—ideal for warming up or refining mechanics before teeing off. Though the course offers a competitive edge for low handicaps, it remains playable for those still honing their game, with multiple tee boxes catering to a wide spectrum of skill sets.

For players considering a visit, sturdy footwear is advised to navigate the varied elevations gracefully, and a walk offers an intimate connection to the terrain’s subtleties often missed from a cart. Tee times are highly controlled, preserving the experience for members and their guests alike. Each round at TPC Sugarloaf unfolds like a chapter of golf history, blending contemporary design with natural beauty and a firm embrace of Southern hospitality.

Course Highlights

The course integrates The Stables and The Meadows nines, each offering distinct landscapes featuring elevated fairways, expansive sand traps, and thoughtfully placed water hazards. Known for hosting The Mitsubishi Electric Classic, TPC Sugarloaf balances strategic design with natural topography, producing a championship-level experience honored for its Southern country club ambiance.

Great golf course. I had lunch at the restaurant and had a couple drinks which was fantastic. That afternoon we had a tee off at around 2:45. They have a very nice putting green and driving range before you go to the first tee. The course itself is beautiful and very well maintained. One of my favorite aspects of the golf course is the sand traps which are remarkably done and stunning to look at but not the easiest to get out of. It is surrounded by mature trees that were turning colors due to the fall. Some water hazards but not a lot and definitely a course that forced you to lay a ball up versus going for because of the trap layout. The greens were incredibly fast on Friday and due to some rain in the morning were much slower on Saturday. Love playing the course and look forward to playing it again sometime soon.

TPC Sugarloaf, a championship golf course, has been home to The Mitsubishi Electric Classic since its inception in 2013. “TPC Sugarloaf country club is also known as “The Stables and The Meadows” courses, fit harmoniously with its surroundings on the site of the former Rollins Farm.  Named by Golf Digest among the “Best New Private Clubs in the U.S.” when it debuted in 1997 and by Golfweek among the “Top 100 Best Residential Golf Courses for 2007-2008,” the course features tree-lined Bermuda fairways and a challenging layout featuring streams, lakes, and hills.” (Mitsubishi Classic) Whenever you visit as a tournament patron or guest of a member, you will experience the beauty and charm of a traditional Southern country club, along with the warm welcome of Southern hospitality. Their services and cuisine are exceptional.
