Course Overview

RiverPines Golf Club, located in the heart of Johns Creek, Georgia, offers a compelling blend of challenge and enjoyment across its 18-hole layout and complementary par-3 course. This public facility is known for its well-maintained bent-grass greens and thoughtfully designed fairways, demanding precision without overwhelming players of all skill levels. The course's routing encourages strategic play with a variety of tee options, requiring golfers to employ a full range of clubs rather than relying solely on the driver. Many holes gently guide players through subtle elevation changes and natural vegetation, creating a setting that feels both peaceful and invigorating.

The bunkers, positioned to guard key landing areas and greens, test accuracy, while the consistently fast roll of the greens keeps putting engaging throughout the round. The course strikes a balance between playability and complexity, making it suitable for newcomers looking to develop their game as well as experienced players seeking to sharpen their iron shots and short game.

RiverPines Golf Club supports its golf experience with a welcoming practice area that includes a driving range, putting greens, and a short game zone. Notably, the provision of complimentary range balls before a round invites players to prepare thoroughly. The clubhouse offers casual dining via a grill area, where players can relax and share highlights after the round.

The layout benefits from clear, well-placed signage and encourages the use of GPS technology, which complements the sometimes tricky approach shots. While the course can be busy, timely booking is advised to ensure preferred tee times.

Walking the course is encouraged, and golfers will appreciate firm footing through updated paths and maintained turf. Those who prefer carts can often request one depending on availability.

With its accessible design, friendly staff, and consistent upkeep, RiverPines provides an engaging golf experience for players looking to enjoy quality golf in a vibrant suburban setting just outside Atlanta.

Course Highlights

Among its key attributes are bent-grass greens known for their smooth, fast surfaces and challenging bunkers that protect both landing areas and greens. The course layout offers diverse shot-making opportunities, emphasizing long irons and approach wedges rather than favoring driver dominance. The par-3 course, adjacent to the main layout, provides an excellent option for warm-ups or quick practice rounds.

Really enjoyable round today. Pace of play was solid (4 hrs), tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and greens in really good shape (1 green had some weird sand spots). Greens were especially fast. Impressive for a public course. Complimentary range balls was a great touch. Loved all of the signage around the course. Really helped. Highly recommend using a GPS app. Staff was very friendly as well. Hope to be back soon! I felt that it was worth the $85 price tag for a Saturday morning round. As for the course, I felt that I got a lot of variety in the holes... Not many forced driver holes. Only a few driver - wedge holes. Many holes required a long iron or wood off the tee. I love little changes that challenge different aspects of your game. Just don't miss long on your approach shots!

This place is a great place to play golf. People are extremely nice, the course as well taken care of. The only reason I didn’t get it five stars Was because the greens weren’t in great shape.

We had a great day of golf today. Shawn and his team were a pleasure to work with and our group had a blast (5 foursomes!). We’ll be back next year…going to make this an annual event!

A fun and challenging track to play. It has an 18 holes course plus a par 3 course, nice practice facilities and a grill to enjoy. The round comes with a small bucket of balls to warm up before playing. The greens rolled good and fast. players need to fix their divots but that seems to be everywhere these days. The course is busy so booking a tee time would be recommended.

Good experience overall - tee boxes are in good shape, fairways generally very good and the bent-grass greens are surviving the summer. We finished in 4 hours on the dot - not bad for an 8:50 Sunday morning round. It’s been a while since I’ve played here and I would say in general they’ve done a great job of keeping the course in good shape. It’s an interesting layout with lots of trouble if you’re not playing well.

I’ve played about 10 rounds here and the pace of play is so bad. Doesn’t matter if it’s a weekday, expect 5-5.5 hour rounds every single time. The Marshalls unfortunately don’t do anything. It’s a good course and the conditions are great when it doesn’t rain a lot, but I’m not sure it’s worth the price anymore.
