About Ralph Stover State Park

Ralph Stover State Park is a compact 45-acre area located in the northeastern corner of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, along the scenic Tohickon Creek. The park is dominated by high cliffs and rocky outcrops, which rise 100 feet above the creek, providing excellent opportunities for rock climbing and rappelling. Its geography is marked by rugged terrain and a portion of the Delaware Canal State Park towpath runs through it, inviting visitors for peaceful hiking, walking, and cycling along the historic canal route. Ecologically, the park features mature hardwood forests typical of the mid-Atlantic region with species such as oak, maple, beech, and tulip poplar. Wildlife includes white-tailed deer, various species of songbirds, and small mammals. The park has roots dating back to the early 20th century when it was once the site of a granite quarry operated by the Stover family, who eventually donated the land to the state. Today, it is a popular destination for day use and outdoor recreation rather than camping. Key recreation activities include rock climbing on the Tohickon Creek cliffs, fishing for trout and bass in the creek, hiking the scenic trails, and picnicking in designated areas. Notable landmarks include High Rocks Vista, which overlooks the gorge and provides panoramic views, and the remains of the historic Tohickon Creek Mill. Visitors are drawn to the park’s blend of natural beauty and outdoor adventure opportunities close to the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
