Weedon Island Preserve

Weedon Island Preserve spans approximately 3,190 acres of marine ecosystems, coastal wooded trails, and mangrove swamps, located on Tampa Bay, Florida. This coastal preserve is a designated archaeological area with a history tracing back thousands of years to early Native American inhabitants. Managed by Pinellas County, the Preserve serves both as a critical conservation area and a hub for public recreation. Among its ecological features are tidal shores, which make for excellent bird-watching opportunities, and extensive wetlands supporting a diversity of flora and fauna. The remarkable interpretive center offers insights into the local ecosystem and historical significance of the land, while the network of boardwalks and trails guides visitors through a natural wonderland where paddling and fishing are popular activities.
