Kaliakra Nature Reserve

Kaliakra Nature Reserve is located in the northeastern part of Bulgaria, stretching over a narrow and rocky headland on the Black Sea. The reserve spans about 8 kilometers into the sea and is distinct for its towering red cliffs, which offer breathtaking views of the surrounding marine landscape. Established to protect the significant ecological diversity within its boundaries, the reserve serves as a sanctuary for numerous bird species, notably migratory raptors and seabirds, making it a key birdwatching destination. Moreover, Kaliakra is steeped in history. The area is rich with archaeological sites, including remnants of ancient fortresses and settlements dating back to Roman and Byzantine times.
