About Gateway Arch National Park

Gateway Arch National Park

Gateway Arch National Park, situated in the heart of downtown St. Louis, Missouri, spans 91 acres and is home to the iconic Gateway Arch. This 630-foot tall monument is the tallest national monument in the United States and offers panoramic views of the Mississippi River and Downtown St. Louis. The park serves as a tribute to Thomas Jefferson and the pioneers who contributed to the westward expansion of the United States. Established in 1935 as a memorial, the park underwent significant redevelopment, including the opening of the new Museum at the Gateway Arch, which provides insights into America’s expansion, the history of the Arch, and the city of St. Louis. Aside from the museum, visitors can take a tram ride to the top of the Arch for unparalleled views, explore the Old Courthouse, and enjoy riverboat cruises. The park’s grounds are ideal for walking, biking, and picnicking along the banks of the Mississippi River.
