Andringitra National Park, located in the central-southern part of Madagascar, spans over 77,000 acres. It comprises a stunning array of landscapes, including granite outcrops, high-altitude meadows, and dense forests, making it a hotspot for biodiversity. The park's elevation varies dramatically, from around 2,500 feet to nearly 8,700 feet at the summit of Pic Boby, Madagascar's second-highest peak. Andringitra is home to an exceptional array of wildlife, including more than 100 bird species and 50 species of mammals, with seven lemur species being particularly noteworthy. Historically, the park has been significant for the indigenous Bara and Betsileo tribes. Recreationally, it offers excellent opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and wildlife viewing, appealing to those seeking both adventure and tranquility. The park's beauty is accentuated by its waterfalls and panoramic vistas visible from its rugged trails.
